[1 John Series 7] Growing Up… SpirituallySýnishorn
One conquering weapon
After being born again into the Father’s family through Jesus Christ, we can grow into young men and women of God. As such, the Lord wants us to know that we are in a battle. Therefore, He gave us a special message: “You are victorious.” He has revealed our victory tool is the Word of God, and in it we have seen the future: God has something bigger for us.
We go through the battle because we know that all things work for the good of those who love Christ. No one can snatch us from His hands. In difficult times, He can take us through the Red Sea.
You maybe have heard this saying before: “Seven days without God’s Word makes one weak.” Or, “You’ll either find a worn-out Bible or you’ll find a worn-out life.” Some of us still are spiritual children who think we don’t have time to read the Bible. Make time. This is the most important thing you could possibly do. Maybe you don’t read the Word because you don’t understand it. No one understands everything. It is a difficult book. But we can go to the Father and pray, “God, I need Your help. Let me understand your Word. Let it wash over me.” Then go to the New Testament and start reading. That is all you have to do to begin.
God’s Word brings the victory. Our hate, our opinion, or our fight is not the weapon. The Word of God is the weapon. Reading it, studying it, obeying it, living it, resting in it, remaining in it, abiding in it is what makes the victory happen.
All of us could do better with our Bible reading. Put the Word in your mind and in your heart and let God do something in you. That is how you move from a little child to a young man or woman of God. How do you fight the battle? You fight the battle by His Word. This is for your encouragement: you need to know that the battle is a battle. The fight is a fight. Perseverance looks a lot better on paper than it does living it out in real life. But heaven is counting on young men and women who walk relying on God’s Word in battles and stay true spiritually. Again, we are not talking about age progression; we are talking about spiritual maturity. Young people, you have conquered the evil one!
