A Reading Plan for Moms for the New YearSýnishorn
"A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value...Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."
This passage can be a little overwhelming. The woman described in these verses sounds like Wonder Woman! But, do you know what I see when I read these verses? More than anything, this woman is devoted to her husband and her family.
Everything this woman does is driven by the love she has for her husband and family, not herself. I think we can all take a lesson or two from the Proverbs 31 wife. If I focus on myself, my needs and my wants, then I am going in a different direction from what is ultimately best for me, my husband, and my family.
Some of the noble wife's traits are:
- She puts her husband’s needs above her own
- She is not idle but works hard all day
- She is wise
- She is giving
- She is loving
- She fears (loves and respects) the Lord
Pray this today:
Lord, I want to love my husband and put his needs before my own. I want to be busy doing the work God has given me in raising my children and running my household. I want to be wise and see the wisdom in Your Word. I want to give of my time, talents, and money, and show love to everyone.
Above all of these things Lord, I want to know You and know Your love for me.
