The Coming PromiseSýnishorn
DAY 3: A Community of Faith Destroys Doubt
Have you ever considered what Mary did immediately after saying, “I am the Lord’s servant, may your word to me be fulfilled?"
Luke 1:39 says, “At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth.”
Mary finds out Elizabeth is miraculously pregnant and immediately leaves to visit her. Mary's first plan of action is to visit someone else who’s experiencing a miracle. If you don’t remember the story of Elizabeth, she was old and not able to conceive. I'm sure Elizabeth had even given up on her dream of being a mom. Elizabeth's husband, Zechariah, had such disbelief that Gabriel took his voice away until their son was born.
Are you waiting on a miracle? Have you been told your promise, but you are now living in the in-between? Who are you surrounding yourself with during this time?
I believe Mary needed the three months she spent with Elizabeth, so she didn't hear any negative voices.
Why is it important to surround yourself with like-minded people?
Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
You are influenced by your surroundings: people, music, social media, news, etc. You need people who will encourage you on the days you question what God is doing. Being in community with someone who is also believing for their own miracle allows you to look over and see a walking miracle. Together, you can speak life into each other's promises.
If you surround yourself with people who say, "it’s not possible," what do you think you will begin believing? You will eventually believe it's not possible and will begin to question God's faithfulness.
The Bible shows us the power of living in a community.
In Matthew 18:18-20 it says, “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gathers in my name, there am I with them.”
Who are you spending your time with as you wait for your promise?
Who are you allowing to speak into your life?
About this Plan
Mary & Joseph’s walk of obedience brought God’s deliverance for all men. Mary kept the promise of God her focus by surrounded herself with miracle believing people. Joseph's obedience was necessary for Mary’s promise to be fulfilled. Could your obedience be the door to someone else’s promise fulfilled? Is God birthing a promise within you and are you stewarding it well? Will you obey no matter what the cost?
