Available: Breaking Through “Busy” to Connect with GodSýnishorn

Availability is a journey –– and it doesn’t end the first time you make yourself available to God. At some point, we have to start making a shift to become available to others.
But stepping up, stepping out, and making an impact can feel like such a daunting task. Thoughts like, “I couldn’t… ,” “I’m just a… ,” or “How would I even… ” disqualify us from letting God use us.
In reality, though, the Bible is full of people with that same thought who made a massive impact in the lives of others –– just by being willing.
2 Corinthians takes a closer look at what it means to apply willingness to our everyday lives.
“Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means. For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.”
2 Corinthians 8:11-12
This whole passage is meaningful, but pay special attention to verse 11: according to your means.
God asked Esther to stand up for her people because she had the power to speak with the king.
He placed Jonathan in a position to protect David because he had the skill and the heart for it.
He used The Good Samaritan because he was traveling on that same road as the traveler who needed help.
God only asked them to use what they’d been given.
All you need to do is be willing to serve those around you. To be available when others need you. To be generous when God is calling you to it. To give beyond the bare minimum.
What’s one way you can be available to others today? Whether it’s giving your first tithe, volunteering in your community, or helping a friend in need, use active faith today.
