Colossians In 7

DAY 3 OF 7

Read it out

We see both Paul’s passion and his character. Paul is suffering and struggling to have the privilege of joining God as He builds His Kingdom. Think on the incredible beauty of God redeeming humanity through the suffering, death, and resurrection of His Son. Does it leave you spell-bound? Here is even a more incredible fact. This calling to join God in Kingdom-building was not a privilege only given to Paul and the other apostles. God is inviting us today to join Him in Kingdom-building in our world.

In 2:1 Paul states that he is contending for the early church to grow in their faith. This is a term of extreme competition. In Paul’s day, one would thing of wrestling or boxing when using the word contending. Today, one might think of the world of MMA. The same kind of passion a fighter puts in their training is the same kind of passion you and I are being challenged to put into making the mystery of the Gospel known in our world.

What about you? What roles and responsibilities has God laid upon you to join in His work? Will you struggle and suffer for the sake of the Gospel, for the sake of the Kingdom?

Talk it out

What do you think suffering for the cause of Christ could look like in your life?

Pray it out

Ask God to show you things that may be hindering your own maturity in Christ?

Ask God to give you practical things that you can do to help give of yourself to your church and community?
