Freedom Fighters – Revived For A ReasonSýnishorn
Do Your Friends See Freedom In You?
The cultural conversation of our generation is one around freedom of choice. Whether through protests, social media, or Netflix documentaries, people are taking a stand on issues they believe in and are rejecting traditional beliefs. As a Christian, it can be hard to know when and how to participate in this cultural conversation. While some social movements are well worth your support, others are less black and white, leaving the majority of Christians confused and silent.
Due to the fact that people’s emotions and identities are grounded in some of the debates about freedom of choice, responding carefully is key. When you steer clear of hostile arguments that can lead to fractured relationships, and live and love in a way that demonstrates the freedom you have found in Jesus, the people in your life who are searching for true freedom get curious. This leads to prime opportunities to share the real reason behind your hope and peace.
In Jesus you are free. You are no longer a slave to sin, to fear, or to the world. Your identity is unshakeable in Him. You have peace, you have joy, you have hope. If that’s not ‘freedom’, what is?! From the outside, religion can look like a lifestyle bound by rules. It’s only when you have a relationship with Jesus that you understand that’s not the case at all. Jesus is the freedom our generation is searching for.
You have been revived for a reason! You have been revived to live in a way that invites others to know this freedom that you have found through Jesus. The challenge for you today is; how are you living out this truth? Do your friends look at your life and see freedom? Are they intrigued about the source of that freedom? If not, what might you need to change?
Ask the Holy Spirit to remind you of the true joy of your salvation today, because if you believe in your heart that you’re free, you can live like you’re free too. It is through your freedom that Jesus can bring light and love to others who are still searching.
