Who Said?

DAY 1 OF 5

The Voice of Fear

“Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world” - Anais Nin

Negativity bias is a theory that states that negative emotions, such as fear, sadness, and anxiety, automatically take precedence over positive emotions. Our minds naturally gravitate toward those undesirable feelings. How many times have you talked yourself out of doing something because the “what ifs” screamed loudly in your head? How many times have you not spoken up because the chatter of what could happen drowned out your own thoughts? Fear has a way of debilitating you. Fear has the potential to paralyze you so that no progress will be made. Most respond to fear as if it is a reality instead of a thought. Fear is like going into a fun house and believing that the distortions that you see in the mirror are true. When we focus too much on what we see in front of us, it can cause us to forget whom and whose we are. The enemy's plan behind fear is to blind you from seeing God’s abilities so that you begin to rely on your capabilities. When you focus on your abilities, you invite in feelings of insufficiency, which produce fearful responses. If he can get you to forget that God is fighting for you, you will start relying on your own strength, which leads fears to arise. Fear is a spirit, and it comes with an agenda to discourage, discredit, and disarm you. The only remedy to fear is faith. Faith points your trust back to God. Faith says that you do not have to figure it out, because God is in control. Faith says that with your weakness, you have what it takes, because He picks up the slack. Faith says you do not have to be anxious about tomorrow, because He is already there. This may seem easier said than done, but it is achievable by arresting one thought at a time.

Prayer:

God, I pray that you help them to identify those areas in their lives where fear has tried to dominate. I pray that those areas are turned over to you and that they allow the truth of your word to rest in them. I pray that you refresh their faith and give them a revelation of you and your sovereignty that produces a new level of peace in their lives. In Jesus' name, amen.

About this Plan

Who Said?

With so many voices present in our lives on a daily basis, it can become difficult to decipher whose voice we are actually hearing. We have to learn to silence any voice that speaks contrary to the voice of God. In this plan we will explore different voices that often arise in our lives and how to combat it with the words of God.
