UNCOMMEN: Bumper Sticker Theology

DAY 3 OF 5

In Case Of Rapture, This Car Will be Unmanned

I figured a great bumper sticker required an equally important scripture verse. If you think an unmanned car in motion is scary, try thinking about all those to believe themselves to be Christians that will not be allowed into heaven.

While this bumper sticker may be funny, it assumes the driver is indeed saved by the Blood of Christ Jesus and will be caught up if the trumpet blows while they are driving. If you’ve ever read some of the Left Behind series or watched the movie, the actual moment of the rapture is world halting. As strange as people vanishing from the presence of others is, the faces of the ones who thought they would be caught up to heaven and were not are even harder to perceive

They went to church; they had a Bible; they listened to others talk about Jesus and agreed with most of it. They even had Christian bumper stickers on their vehicle.

As our scripture verse tells us, not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Going to church no more saves you or makes you a Christian than standing in your garage makes you a Minivan. You need a personal relationship with Jesus. It starts by repenting of your sins and taking Jesus as your Savior. It’s about the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, reading God’s Holy Word, being obedient in believers’ Baptism and becoming more like Christ.

Uncommen Questions:

Are you as ready for the second coming of Jesus as your bumper sticker says you are?

Do you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior?

Uncommen Challenge:

I challenge you to answer those two questions above, and if either one is a “NO,” then speak to someone about how you can come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior today!

Matthew 7:21

About this Plan

UNCOMMEN: Bumper Sticker Theology

There’s a bumper sticker for everything these days. Christian culture has some bumper stickers of their own. Are we living up to what we’re testifying to on our cars? We’ll use some popular phrases you may have heard before to consider our personal walk with Jesus.
