Consider Your Consumption.
Proverbs 4:23 KJV states to “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” According to Strong’s Concordance the Hebrew word for “Keep” is, ‘natsar’ (H5341) which means, “to guard, guard from dangers, watch, watch over, or to preserve.” Preserve your heart from the entanglements and contaminates of the world. What are you consuming? What are you entertaining? Who are you entertaining? What are you digesting? Are you consuming advice from the heart of someone who’s bitter? Who is your counsel? Choose to identify any hardened area of your heart and let God soften you from the inside out.
Psalms 24:4 KJV states that clean hands and a pure heart is the key to promotion. “He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.” When you surrender your heart to God and allow Him to make you clean — He will guide your path. Keep your heart pure. Keep your focus on God.
What you choose to consume is critical to your development and future success. Proverbs 18:21 states that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Your heart influences your words. The condition of your heart leads your language. Are you speaking in love or lust? Faith or fear? Your spiritual diet is essential for the next level. Let God lead your character. Consume His Word daily and He will direct your path.
