Leading Like Nehemiah
Step 5 | Encourage Commitment and Accountability
This week we’ve discussed Nehemiah’s 5 steps to success. The final step is to “Encourage Commitment and Accountability.” When adversity comes, teams can either fall apart, or they can become stronger together.
A good leader recognizes this and handles adverse situations accordingly. Nehemiah’s team received multiple death threats and his team members were scared.
In Nehemiah 4:14, Nehemiah was at risk of losing his workers if their commitment level wasn’t increased. He encouraged them by saying, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome , and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
Nehemiah later had internal conflict as well, requiring that he hold his leaders accountable to God’s standards. If you desire a successful project or business, encourage commitment and accountability.
