Prayer: Talking To The God Of The UniverseSýnishorn
God, I’ve Blown It…
In prayer, the first thing God will want to talk to you about is often the last thing you want to talk to Him about—your sin. If you don’t feel like praying today, it’s probably a good indication that you need to do just that.
Ask God to turn your heart back to Him. The truth is, you can’t do this yourself! God is a refining fire, a cleansing influence—but we must repent honestly for Him to be able to change us. If you’re feeling convicted about your sin, don’t feel bad about it; rather, be glad your conscience is still sensitive and responsive to God.
Holiness is a path, not a place. When you’re off the path, God’s plan is simple—get back on it immediately. Confess your sin, accept God’s mercy and forgiveness, and refuse Satan’s condemnation. Press on towards Christ. Remember this: the moment that brings the awareness of sin should also bring the confession of sin and the assurance of forgiveness.
When you confront your own failures, be sure not to add insult to injury by becoming mired in hopelessness and despair. All God asks of us is to humble ourselves and repent. Don’t excuse, rationalize, or blame others for your sins. Instead, receive God’s grace and forgiveness by faith (not by feelings). Get whatever help you need to get back on track—sooner, not later.
When you sin and try to hide from God, you only prolong your misery. So the moment you become aware of your sin, confess it, then leave His presence confident that He has forgiven you.
