We all know too well that our earthly body is a perishable item. But our redemption includes not only the soul, but the resurrection of our bodies as well. We are risen because He is risen. And because Christ is alive, we are made alive.
In heaven, we will be set free from our old, tired, worn-out body. We will live without inhibitions, without distractions. Can you imagine the worship in heaven? That will be a great part of our joy, to worship Jesus.
Now I know some are thinking, really? We’re just going to sing in heaven all day long, forever? No, heaven is not going to be a long, boring church service. We will join in with the worship of God. It will be an endless hallelujah to our King!
But we will have other things to do, too. We will serve the Lord. We will enjoy banquets and have adventures. We will be in His presence. We’ll laugh, we’ll praise, we’ll feast.
When you leave this earth, you’re not finished. In heaven, you’re just beginning. You will meet friends, go places, finish your bucket list. Imagine doing something you love with renewed energy, never growing tired, always being productive and perfectly fulfilled.
Even though when we get to heaven, our time here on earth over, it will not be forgotten. We will be rewarded for our work on earth. Revelation 14:13 assures the saints that “their deeds follow them.”
There will be an eternal compensation: the rewards, the crowns. That should motivate us to know that we are accountable.
The Bible tells us that when Christ comes, we will take our crowns, and place them at His feet. I want one, don’t you? I want to serve and be faithful to the Lord, be faithful unto death, and then receive the crown of life.
