How The Gospel Meets Our Greatest Needs

DAY 4 OF 5

Redemption in Resurrection

Christ took our bad news upon Himself. He died the death we deserved, but that isn’t the end of his story.

Three days after His death, a few women who loved and followed him walked over to the tomb where he laid to pay their respects and mourn. When they arrived, an angel greeted him and proclaimed the most amazing reality: “I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay”(Matthew 28:5-6).

The women were shocked but excited. As they left, they went to tell Christ’s disciples the good news. They were the first people to share the gospel message – that Jesus Christ has risen from the dead as he said he would.

Now, when people trust in His resurrection, they are not only free from our sin because of His death, they are free to live a life in community with Him. We no longer have to live dead in our sins because we can be alive with Christ!

This new life in Christ looks much like the beginning of humanity’s story. Once again, we get to live in spiritual community with God on Earth. Through prayer, we have direct access to God, and the Spirit shapes us more and more back into God’s Image, mending the fractures caused by sin.

Because of Christ’s resurrection, we get to re-enter into community of God. Christ died our death, rose again, and now He lives. Likewise, we were dead in our sins and His resurrection allows us to live again.

As you read the passages today, think about how this is truly good news. Thank God for providing a way for you to live in Him.
