Daily Jewels- Aligning Your Crown As A Daughter Of The KingSýnishorn
Day 2: Guiltless Nap
Rest: cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength.
Are you the type of person that loves planners? I am not good at making lists but I love buying pretty planners. In our culture it’s the norm to have every second filled in our planners. There have been mornings I dreaded the day because I knew there wasn’t much time to breathe. I have the habit of feeling useless if I am not productive. When I do have a few minutes, I find myself “scrolling” on social media. A few weeks ago I found myself feeling anxious and overwhelmed, so I called one of my mentors and she asked me if I had “rested” recently. I was silent, because I knew in my heart the answer was no.
I have seen a common thread with women who stay busy; the second they aren’t, they feel guilty. Why is that? Why do we feel the need to have a full calendar that leaves zero time for us to be renewed and refreshed? This very morning, I woke up at 10:30 am, and my immediate thought was “wow I am lazy.” But if I reflected back to the last 2 weeks I went NON-STOP. Why do we think we must justify the need for our rest? Society makes us feel “lazy” if we take time for ourselves. So many of us will choose to listen to those voices and run ourselves ragged because we don’t want to seem unproductive.
Your day or week may be making you feel anxious, so I want to encourage you to stop and open your Bible. I believe in the midst of our chaos we need more than just sleep. We need God’s supernatural rest. My friend and founder of Her Voice Movement, Jenny Donnelly, released a video series on REST. She has encouraged me and thousands of other women to
R-Release E-Every S-Single T-Thing to the ONE who created it all. I want to encourage you to make time for your Heavenly Father so that He can help rest your soul and keep you focused on the things that matter. I truly believe if we leave space in our day to rest, we would find the time to release every single thing to Him, therefore gaining His Peace in the midst of our to do list. Let’s start today by talking to our Heavenly Father.
Daily Prayer:
Heavenly Daddy,
Help me take a time audit of my day today. Reveal to me the times I need to stop what I am doing and focus on what YOU are doing. Help me find those moments of “rest” where I can release every single thing to You. I know You can refresh my heart and mind to tackle anything. Remind me today and every day that I can REST in YOU, my Daddy, the King of Kings. My “to-do list” will not overwhelm my become list. Help me to become the daughter of the King you beautifully designed. In Jesus’ name.
Love,
Your daughter
Don't forget your crown today!
