Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of HopeSýnishorn
April 25
Introduction
Today’s reading begins with the author describing how to live honorably in the household. Christians are told to observe common cultural conventions of the time regarding marriage. The entire community of believers is given words of encouragement during times of suffering for doing what is right.
Today’s Scripture: 1 Peter 3:15a (GNT)
Have reverence for Christ in your hearts, and honor him as Lord.
Today’s Reading
1 Peter 3:1-22
Reflect
Most likely, the suffering referred to in today’s reading pertains to some type of harassment the Christian community may have had to endure. They were looked upon with suspicion and hostility because of their faith practices. Have you ever had to bear witness to your faith in the midst of a hostile environment? In what ways can you prepare yourself to be ready “to answer anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you” (verse 15b)?
Pray
Holy God, nurture me each day with your Word so that I will always be ready to explain the hope that is in me and proclaim the good news of your love and salvation. Teach me to do so with gentleness and respect so that my words bring glory to you. Bind all people together as one in the body of Christ. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those preparing for marriage
Tomorrow’s Reading
1 Peter 4:1-19: Christians are called upon to be good managers of God’s gifts.
