Wisdom Of The Teacher For College Students, Ch. 9Sýnishorn
The chapter concludes with an illustration. The poor wise man saves the city from a great king, yet no one remembers him. Wisdom is always one generation away from being lost!
The city wasn’t saved by might or weapons, but by the quiet wisdom of the wise man. Wise words can win the day, but they are often missed because of the shouting of those in charge. The problem is that one person who will not listen can ruin the entire thing. Not everyone wants to listen to the wise words spoken in the quiet places.
I often think of how much trouble we bring on ourselves because we fail to listen and heed the wise words of our parents and grandparents. Our peers have a louder voice that often drowns out the soft and gentle guidance of those who have walked these paths before us. The Teacher would caution us to pay attention to the quieter voices and steer clear of the din of voices in the crowds.
