Lifestyle Of Worship

DAY 1 OF 7

A Cry

Psalm 18:6 (NIV)

In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help.

From his temple he heard my voice;

my cry came before him, into his ears.

(Psalm 18:6 (TPT)

I cried out to you in my distress, the delivering God,

and from your temple-throne you heard my troubled cry.

My sobs came right into your heart and you turned your face to rescue me.

A lifestyle of worship requires being truly honest before God without hiding your feelings, emotions, and secrets. Psalm 18, which is also referred to in 2 Samuel 22, starts with a description stating David sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

I remember crying to the Lord (weeping/groaning terribly) when my elder sister was having complications during her first child (Obadiah’s) pregnancy. Each day was like going through severe pain and crying. I can also picture myself crying on the day of my album launch where we had invited Dr. Stella Dhinakaran. Almost everything was set and ready to start, and that’s when the electricity went off and the generator wasn’t working. I couldn’t bear the panic and started crying before Jesus as a little child.

I have come to an understanding that crying before God is not a weakness, but it is a call for help. That’s what David is trying to explain in this Psalm – that He cried to God for help, the Lord heard his voice and his cry.

“Your genuine cry for help touches the heart of God.”

Crying before God is part of a worship lifestyle. It gives us the strength to say that I can’t do anything on my own, but I trust that God will work on my behalf.

The next few verses will give you goosebumps because it says as I cried to God, the earth trembled and quaked, He parted the heavens and came down.

Wow! This is our God.

Similarly, I have experienced breakthroughs in my life whenever I have cried before God no matter what the circumstances. Continuing the album launch story (Pyaar Karta Hoon), God heard my cry and made the gathering a glorious one.

So, if you are going through some difficult situation in life, then I would encourage you to cry before God and see how He will part heaven just to rescue you from that trouble and deliver you.

A lifestyle of worship includes crying before God in the time of distress and always being honest before God.
