Peace That Transcends All Understanding

DAY 6 OF 7

MAKE JESUS YOUR FIRST PRIORITY

"What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?" Mark 8:36-37

Penny Heyns is a personal friend of mine. In the Lord I like to look upon her as a daughter in Christ. It is a great honour for me to say that she has realised Jesus Christ is more important to her than all the gold medals, all the blazers and all the colours that she has been awarded for her sport. People are so fickle. When you’re a champion, everyone wants to know you. But the day you don’t make the championship, the day that you come second or even last, nobody wants to know you anymore. That’s the tragedy of life. There’s only one person who will forever be the same, and His name is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Make Him your most important priority in life.

Maybe some of you are very worried as you’re reading this today. Maybe you are too concerned about your bank balance, about your investments, about your possessions, about your achievements in life. Remember then the words of Mark 8:36, “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?” The Lord Jesus Christ is more important than anything or anyone in this world.

If you want contentment in your life, put your priorities straight today. Live a godly life. He will bless you with the fruit of the Holy Spirit in your life, and above all with His love, peace and contentment.

Lord Jesus, I confess that I am worried about worldly things. Today I choose again to fix my eyes on You so that I will know love, peace and contentment in my life. Amen
