Now Is the Time: Devotions From Time of Grace

DAY 1 OF 7

Today

The shortness and unpredictability of life is a lesson that people just can’t seem to learn for long. Every time people die “before their time” the community goes into shock--tornado devastation, highway collisions, gun violence, deadly accidents, fire, childhood disease. It appears a fact of human nature that we need regular jolts and reminders not to put off personal repentance and personal confession of faith in our Savior. It is imperative that the day of our death does not catch us unprepared. God’s personal judgment on us at that time is irrevocable and our destiny is final.

There has never been an era when people didn’t need that regular wake-up call. They certainly did during the Old Testament era: “So, as the Holy Spirit says: ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the desert’” (Hebrews 3:7,8). The frequent disasters and punishments that the nation of Israel experienced are a dreadful example and warning for us about growing careless and dead in our faith life. The 40 years the nation spent in the desert would not have been necessary if they had been listening to and believing the Word.

Now is the time. Today is the day, your day. Are you and your family ready?
