I Believe In Miracles

DAY 1 OF 3

MIRACULOUS CATCH

My Jesus, crowds of people were no stranger to You. And yet You are still the Lord of the individual!

Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. Simon Peter said to the disciples, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We are going with you also.” They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. John 21:1,3

Whenever you see the sign “Gone fishing,” you know that the occupants aren’t there. They might have literally gone fishing or they might have had enough for the day. When Peter and the disciples saw the death of Jesus, who was their hope, their vision, and their future, their entire world crumbled. They decided to go back to fishing because it was all they knew.

The good news, though, is that the Lord Jesus rose from the dead. He came to the disciples at the Sea of Galilee and challenged them to continue the work and to take care of His sheep (John 21:17). In other words, He wanted them to continue with the work He had called them to.

We must never, ever give up. After all, we never know just how close we might be to victory. In the Gospels, Peter may have gone fishing because he believed he was a failure. But Jesus showed up, and in the end, instead of “nothing,” they had a miraculous catch of fish (John 21:6).

I encourage you to lift up your eyes and look to the future. God has placed you where you are because He has something He wants you to do there. Do it with all your heart, and the Lord may take you forward into something greater.

God, thank You for Your miraculous provision. When I feel like checking out, please help me to keep dropping my nets in faith. Let me never, ever, forget that I serve a miracle-working God. You are real, practical, and more than able to take care of our every single need in this life: both physically and spiritually. Amen

About this Plan

I Believe In Miracles

"For me, still the greatest miracle of all is when a man or woman is born again, because the Lord says in John 3:3 'Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God' and then again in verse 7, 'You must be born again.' - Angus Buchan Join Angus on this 3-day devotional, exploring examples of miracles we can all learn and grow from.
