Jesus Revealed Pt. 1 - Jesus: God Manifested!Sýnishorn
Theme of the book of John
Thoughts on the Passage
John wrote this gospel of Jesus so that everyone reading it would know that Jesus is the Son of God. That is an amazing statement. So as we go through this book, take time to learn how each of these stories, explanations, and revelations all proclaim the same thing – Jesus is the Son of God. This gives two important things for us to ponder.
First, it will reveal things only God could do. Second, it will reveal things that we did not understand about God. We would not expect God to do these things, but it reveals a God who loves us beyond our understanding and comprehension. So get ready to find out things about our God that will overwhelm us with love for Him.
John is interested in more than just showing us that Jesus is the Son of God. John wants us to know that we can have life in His name. So John is going to combine these two thoughts in many, many different ways. John wants Jesus, as the Son of God, to change our lives. That is our choice. The words can just be words, or they have the power to release life to us. Get ready to be challenged to receive life.
John also includes seven “I AM” statements of Jesus. The use of this term is one that Jewish people understood – the words “I AM” form the basis for the Name of God – Jehovah. In the Old Testament, Jehovah is revealed to His people through a series of “I AM” statements. I Am a Healing God (Jehovah Rapha); I Am your Provider (Jehovah Jireh); etc. These seven new statements have their foundation in their understanding of God already revealed to them. They now find clarity in meaning in Jesus.
Time to Pray
Father, as we go through the Book of John, there is much to learn about Jesus – Your Son. Some people get confused by what it means so reveal that to us. Also, give us eyes to see and ears to hear what You are saying in this gospel. It is not just nice stories – it will be stories that changed people’s lives. It is not just new things – it will be new things that reveal Your heart to us. So today, as we begin this journey through the gospel of John, give us understanding every day so that we can hear what You are saying and a heart willing to do what You want. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan
We are all born of a woman—an unchanging fact. We are the manifestation of both parents, and as we grow, we see both physical and characteristic similarities. Jesus, although born of a woman, was not the manifestation of Mary and Joseph – but of God Himself. In Plan 1 of 19, John shows us how Jesus isn’t just the Son of God – but God Himself.
