When Faith Fails: 10 Days Of Finding God In The Shadow Of Doubt

DAY 10 OF 10

Like Jesus’ first disciples, you have been called into a story that is larger than your own. Your life throbs with purpose. You were created to know and follow him. Your heart longs for this. And every one of us, worshippers and doubters, are invited to participate.

He calls the disciples whose faith never seems to waver. It’s like they’ve always believed, humming Hillsong in their mothers’ wombs, and they haven’t let up since. But he also calls the doubters. . . . Those with an unshakable ache for intimacy because they cannot stomach a faith that is not their own.

Jesus welcomes both. Both are called. Both are sent. Both are vital to the revolution he has begun.

And no matter where you are in your journey of faith, he calls you too.

Maybe you’re far from home, and you don’t know what or if you believe anymore. Or maybe you’ve moved past deconstruction and now you’re exploring the terrain of doubt, engaging life’s hardest questions. Or maybe you’re on your way home. Your relationship with God is different than it was, but it’s better somehow. Deeper. More alive.

Wherever you are, and whatever you think of God, endless possibility lies in front of you. Jesus’ first recorded words to his disciples were, “Come, follow me,” and his last words were essentially the same. Keep moving forward. Keep chasing after truth.

The greatest danger is not that we lose our faith but that we settle for a mediocre version of it. Every day is an opportunity to ask, seek, knock. There is so much more to explore. So much more to learn. So much to soak in. There are rugged mountains to climb, challenges to overcome, vistas to take in, beauty to experience. A God to know.

You’re just getting started.

And when your heart wavers, when your knees buckle, and when your faith fails, remember that you have this hope:

Jesus has the last word.

About this Plan

When Faith Fails: 10 Days Of Finding God In The Shadow Of Doubt

Wrestling with faith and doubt can be profoundly lonely and isolating. Some suffer in silence while others abandon belief altogether, assuming doubt is incompatible with faith. Dominic Done believes this is both tragic and deeply mistaken. He uses Scripture and literature to argue that not only is questioning normal but it is often a path toward a rich and vibrant faith. Explore faith and doubt in this 10-day plan.
