DAY FIVE: Can You Believe?
In essence, Jesus was saying, “Life under the dominion of Satan’s kingdom doesn’t have to continue.” The kingdom of God overcomes the kingdom of Satan just as light overcomes darkness. You only have to flick the light switch on once to become a believer that light is more powerful than the darkness. The issue wasn’t if God could perform the impossible but rather, could the father believe He could?
Friend, the issue is the same today! God has already won the victory for you. He paid the price for your sin on the cross, and He rose—conquering the power of death and darkness in your life. The issue isn’t whether God can; the issue is whether you believe He can.
The Old Testament was based on a do relationship with God: “Do this, and you will be delivered.” The New Testament is based on a faith relationship with God: “Believe this, and you will be saved.”
Maybe you have been praying for years for certain family members, and you are believing in faith that God is answering your prayer. In fact, you may see signs that the answer is coming. Then all of a sudden, it seems like everything is against you. Every thought that hell could produce is bombarding your mind. Now you find yourself in a place of doubting, and you are thinking, “What is the use? Where is God? I thought I saw a glimmer of hope that an answer was coming, but now everything is a mess.”
Doubt tosses us back and forth like a ship on a rough sea.
“Did I really hear from God? Did God really give me that kind of a word?”
It’s in the midst of the storm that Jesus turns to you and says, “Do you trust Me? Do you have faith in Me?”
