Kairos - God’s Appointed Time to Act

DAY 14 OF 21

Obeying God when it doesn’t make sense Recently I felt the Holy Spirit asking me to do something which made no sense to me at all, and the result of doing it was not what I expected, but it was a learning exercise for me. Sometimes things that God may ask you to do may not make any sense to you at that point in time. But God is looking at your obedience and then sooner or later we realise what a perfect part of God’s plan it was. A lovely example of this from the Scripture is Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his only son Isaac, who was the promised child. When God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son, he didn't try to reason with God, but he simply obeyed. And at that point God spoke to Abraham and stopped him from killing his son. God was testing Abraham and Abraham yielded to God by his pure obedience, which finally ended up in the best interests of both of them. Abraham found favour with God and is went on to be known as the father of faith. Similarly when Jesus asked the servants at the wedding of Cana to fill the wine pots with water or when He asked Peter to cast his net into the sea again, it didn’t make any sense. But their obedience resulted in abundant blessings. Is God asking you to obey in some area of your life? Does it look like it is not making any sense? Obey Him anyways, for all things work together for those who love Him, and who are called according to his purpose.
