Love God, Lose Weight - Christmas DevotionSýnishorn
His Steadfast Love
Devotion
We've all had experiences where someone promised to love us and ended up hurting us; or, someone promised they would do something for us and let us down.
God is not like that. He always keeps his promises. He is always faithful. He will never take His love away from us no matter how many times we pull away or try to do life without Him. God pursues us with His steadfast, relentless love and wants us to open our hearts to receive it.
Beloved, know that there is nothing you could ever do that can separate you from His love. Despite how many times you break your boundaries, God will never stop loving you. He's not mad at you because you're not walking in the level of health you desire. Yes, He wants you to be healthy because He does not want anything standing between your relationship with Him, but He's not waiting for you to get your act together. He loves you just as you are!
The next time you feel frustrated, lonely, stressed, or unloved, remember that you can always turn your heart toward our heavenly Father and receive a fresh anointing of His powerful and steadfast love.
Reflect
"For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in your faithfulness." Psalm 26:3 ESV
"Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds." Psalm 36:5 ESV
1. The dictionary defines steadfast as "unwavering, loyal, faithful, committed, devoted, dependable, reliable, steady, true, constant." No person could ever love us like that, but God can. Thank Him.
2. Reflect on God's steadfast love in your life. Think of all the ways He has loved you.
3. In what ways have you sought love from food, people, or possessions. Repent to God for putting other things before Him and allow His love to saturate every fiber of your being.
Love Challenge
Think of one thing that you need to forgive yourself for and then forgive yourself.
Worship and Prayer
"Dear Lord Jesus, Thank you so much for your unfailing, steadfast love. I am completely astounded at how you could see me and know everything about me and still love me. You know everything I've ever thought and done, and although it doesn't always honor you, you forgive me, and you love me still. Today, I ask for your help to experience your love more deeply. Holy Spirit, I invite you now to show me something I'm holding against myself that you've already paid the price for with Jesus's blood. Please help me to surrender it totally to you now. Thank you for your amazing grace and steadfast love. Amen."
