Promises On The Journey

DAY 2 OF 3

Waiting

I am a “woman of age” and I learned a long time ago that the waiting game is hard, exhausting, and very unpleasant overall. In the waiting, I could either yell and scream because I didn't have any answers yet, or I could rest in Him.

What I have learned with age is to follow what Psalm 5:3 says – “Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.”

I believe the key words in this scripture are “wait expectantly” which means to be filled with hope while we look towards Christ for answers and direction.

To remember to lay our requests down at His feet is the hard part. Our instincts are to “run wild” finding our own answers to our circumstances which only leads to confusion and frustration. Waiting patiently is not usually in our vocabulary.

Maybe Christ is waiting on us to have our eyes open wide and to be filled with awe just like a child who has been waiting on Christmas. He has so many gifts that he wants to give us! Maybe the waiting that we are in the midst of is helping us to realize that He can bring beauty out of it all, and through all our waiting times we can encourage others who are in a similar struggle. Maybe we just need to learn to relax, breathe, rest in Him, and wait patiently for the Lord while we are waiting with expectation to unwrap His gifts!
