The Ascent

DAY 15 OF 15

THE COST OF PRAISE

Has there ever been a day when you didn’t feel like praising God? Surely we’ve all felt like that at some point. Maybe it’s because of what’s going on around us. Maybe it’s because of what’s going on inside of us. We might not always feel like giving thanks, but the Bible instructs us to offer a sacrifice of praise (Hebrews 13:15).

Praise is a choice. Sometimes we need to choose to praise God simply for who He is; for His faithfulness, His goodness. Praise is what God deserves.

Praise changes our perspective; it takes our eyes off our circumstances and redirects our focus to God, who is faithful and able to work everything for good.

About this Plan

The Ascent

The Ascent… is an invitation to climb. It’s an invitation to proximity. It’s an invitation to intimacy. In the Old Testament there are 15 psalms of ascent. They are songs that Israel sang on their way to celebrate God at festivals. They express amazing grace and they quiet anxious fears. They are songs that provide courage and support as we travel the road of faith and discover who we are and what God’s called us to. It has been said that the Psalms of Ascent are like placing your feet in the footprints of others and reminding ourselves to be moved again; to keep walking forward in the direction of God. This devotional is an invitation to lift our eyes and to ascend the heights; to becoming Jesus’ climbing companions.
