Read Psalm 4:1–3
1 Answer me when I call to you,
my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
3 Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.
Forever Loved
It’s almost impossible for us to get through a day without being made fun of, ignored, or put down in some way. Sometimes we even do it to ourselves.
David’s enemies were bullying, threatening, and hurting him with insults. With his sense of self-worth and wellbeing crushed, he asked for a break “from my distress” (Psalm 4:1).
Then David remembered: “Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself” (v. 3). Different versions of the Bible try to show the full meaning of David’s bold statement by translating “faithful servant” into “godly person”. The original Hebrew word literally means God’s never–ending love. Or, in other words, “those whom God will love forever and ever and ever”.
We are loved forever! Paul says, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38–39).
Nobody and nothing you do can stop God from loving you. You are as important to God as His own Son, Jesus! Even if you’ve had a horrible day, take heart and remember that your heavenly Father loves you infinitely. He will never give up on you and He will never stop loving you. —DR
There’s just no way to measure how much God loves you!
Talk to God
God, You know how the words and actions of others hurt me deeply. But Your words heal and comfort me. Help me to remember that I am loved by You forever.
