SAYING 16: IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
Hey, can we admit that we often have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol and food?
We get drunk and fat when moderation is unheeded. Most of us had parents with the same issues and we decide to deal with life's difficulties with a bottle or a fork.
To be wise, the father in this proverb instructs the son to point his life in the right direction without the use of unhealthy habits. Dependences come in many forms and breed many spinoff problems that cripple us.
Jesus was not a drunk even though he turned water into wine. If we struggle with our self-control then it will be very difficult to head in the right direction – the direction toward freedom from the extremes and excesses that would master us. There is a poverty that comes when we demote ourselves to be mastered by anything.
Life is too valuable to miss it. If you are trying to cover pain by dulling your senses each night, pain will still wake up with you in the morning. When you are healthy spiritually, mentally and emotionally, you will be able to make strong choices physically.
Everything God created is for our good and pleasure, and should be enjoyed wide awake and fully alive.
