New Mind; New Man!

DAY 5 OF 5

You Are A Thought Away From Change

For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]. Philippians 4:8 (AMPC)

Many if not all of us would like change to come to our lives, but if we are honest, we would prefer change to happen with a quick fix. However, some issues in our lives can be deep-rooted from years of a flawed belief pattern and the only way change could come is to first change our thought pattern. I can tell you from personal experience that most of the lasting changes that happened in my life all started with a change of mind.

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is the story of the Prodigal son. It is one of the most dynamic stories about the power of having a change of mind. The story describes a man having two sons and the younger son decided he could not wait for his father to pass away to come into his inheritance. This young man probably got himself caught up with the wrong influences in the culture of his day like so many of us do and we make rash decisions just like him. Clearly, this young man was not thinking about securing the future but living for the pleasure of the moment. I don’t think the young man just woke up one day and decided he would splurge and be free; I believe it had to be over time he envisioned the free lifestyle, being popular, and being in charge of his own life. Once his thoughts and imagination became filled with the images of the free lifestyle he acted on it.

Well as you can guess his so-called free lifestyle landed him in extreme bondage. He wasted his inheritance, lost all his friends, and finally, there was a famine in the land. He came to the lowest point in his life that the only job he could land was to take care of pigs. The Bible describes his case as the lowest you could ever imagine, “The young man became so hungry that even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything.” Luke 15:16 (NLT)

You can agree this is the lowest state to be in when pigs’ food looks appealing. However, in this tragic state something amazing happens that would change this young man’s life forever. He had time to ponder, think and meditate on the gracious father he had and the abundance made available to even the servants that worked for his father. After having a change of mind, he changed his life. Today you may be in a low place, but the truth is just like the prodigal son you are only one thought away from changing your life!

“The world we have created is a product of our thinking; it cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”―Albert Einstein

About this Plan

New Mind; New Man!

Man is blessed with a powerful tool- “ the mind. ” Our thought life is so powerful that it charts the course of our destiny. The author of Proverbs states, “As a man thinks in his heart so is he” What thoughts are streaming through your heart today? Are they thoughts on life or death, health or sickness, love or hate, faith or fear, because what you think today will produce your tomorrow!
