Declutter Now! 30 Day Devotional

DAY 16 OF 30

Temple Care & Maintenance

“Your body is a temple…” (1 Cor 6:19)

Huh? What?? My body is a temple? Absolutely!

In this passage of scripture, Paul was signifying as a Believer, your body is a place where God dwells. He resides within you. How cool is that? That God would find your body worthy enough to dwell within.

But this gift comes with a hefty responsibility. It’s not just ours to do what we want with at our own discretion. God paid the ultimate sacrifice for us by sending his son to die on the cross for our sins and we owe him respect and obedience. We have an obligation to honor God by appreciating and caring for our temples to the best of our ability. It’s our opportunity to show our love and gratitude to him for what he did.

What does this look like? The top three are eating healthy, exercising consistently, and living a life free from alcohol and substance abuse. It also involves sleeping well, managing stress effectively, and taking care of yourself when you are feeling ill and rundown. While these are helpful, basic standards to adhere to, you may have some specific, unique needs which you need help in managing. Don’t be afraid or ashamed to seek out doctors, specialists, and coaches to aid you in your journey.

Think about the different ways in which you can better care for your temple and take action to make it happen today.

What will you declutter? Guilt, regret, illness, disease, dishonoring God, and bondage from problems that will limit your ability to serve the Lord.
