Brave: Experiencing God In The WaitingSýnishorn
Have you ever believed that your plan was better than the Lord’s plan? Have you believed that because it was happening right now then it must be better? The enemy loves to entice us with things of this world. Taking our desires and twisting them just right until we begin to believe that what we truly are wanting are things of this world. When we begin to see things this way, we are living by what we think is a better plan.
By nature I want to control everything, and some days I believe that I can. I want to be in charge of my life, to dictate it how I see fit or how I thought the Lord wants me to live my life. Letting go of the plan I had for my life was one of the hardest things I had to do. I had my whole life planned out for me, though nothing ever happened the way I had planned it. If something were to happen that wasn't in my plan, I would step back, assess the situation, then I would make another plan on how to move forward.
But that isn't how it works. “Your will Lord, not mine.” This was a phrase that I had to start saying to myself daily, sometimes even hourly. I am not here to live according to my plan, because let’s face it, that plan has not worked at all. When I realized that I was no longer living by the desires of this earthy flesh, I experienced freedom like I had never experienced it before. It was a freedom that I never even knew I needed until it was surrounding me. We don't have to have our lives figured out. We just have to trust in the One who created the perfect plan for our lives.
In reality, when we focus on the Lord, our desires and our plans become His desires and His plans for our life. When we truly believe that His plans are greater than our plans, and seek His plans instead of our own, that is when we truly let go, when we truly trust in the Lord’s plan for our life.
I encourage you to take a walk, or go sit by yourself somewhere quiet. Think about what plan you are following. If you find yourself holding tightly onto your plan instead of the Lord’s plan, ask God to give you the strength to let go of your will. Ask Him to replace your desire with His desire. Then, be still and listen. Allow God to remind you of His plan. I guarantee you it will be so wonderfully made.
Will it be hard to let go? Yes.
Will it be worth it? Absolutely.
