Conquering Leaders
The walk from the employee side of the desk to the employer side of the desk may seem to be about 8 feet, but in reality, it’s more like eight lightyears. So many changes come into effect. You have to worry about all the details like paying the employees, taxes, insurance, getting business, competition, trends and that little thing like paying yourself.
That's why Psalm 23 is the perfect verse for a leader. Let’s look at some of the touch points.
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."
A shepherd implies that someone else is in charge and going to provide and protect you.
"He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters."
Any leader will tell you that one of the hardest things to do is make time for yourself. Lying down in green pastures by still waters sounds fantastic.
"He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake."
Being a leader is hard work as you have to invest in yourself. Growing personally is as important as developing professionally. Restoring my soul and leading me is just what I need.
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over."
No fear! Yes, please. Some leaders may look like they have it all together, but in reality, they are passionate people who didn’t let a lack of ability, money, education, qualification, etc. stand in the way of them leading.
My cup running over may seem like we’ll be making it rain hundred dollar bills, but in my experience, that cup has nothing to do with money. Instead, it has everything to do with a complete sense of joy doing with God has called me to do.
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."
This one is a no-brainer for leaders. Goodness and mercy should be one of the attributes of a leader and dwelling in the house of the Lord forever is the perfect ending for a servant leader.
