PROTECTION - Day 2
Fear or Peace?
When I actively place myself under the protection of God Almighty, I can trust in His protection. God will protect us from every type of attack. Today, we read about a bird trap and a deadly disease. A bird sees some food and lands to eat it and is suddenly snared. A person feels a fever, then collapses to the ground. These are pictures of how attacks come—catching us unaware and defenseless—unless God is our protector.
Notice that these are not attacks we can see coming. God protects us even
when we don't know we are under attack. What peace this gives us! We don't have to be afraid of the unknown. We can live our lives in freedom and focus on
Kingdom living.
God's protection is pictured like a mother bird sheltering her baby. The baby is covered by her wing, feels her feathers, hears her heartbeat. Who can be afraid? When we have placed ourselves under God's protection we have the same feeling of peace as this baby bird. He shelters us and we feel his presence. What can harm us?
If you are afraid, run to God. Place yourself and your situation into his hands. His will replace your fear with his perfect love. And then the peace of God, which surpasses our human understanding, will keep your heart and your mind through faith in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:7).

About this Plan
In his ‘Letter to Marcellinus’, Athanasius of Alexandria (4c) said, “Most Scripture speaks to us; the Psalms speak for us." This devotional contains a selection from the Psalms. Through these selections, we hope to show that nothing is off limits when it comes to prayer. Anything and everything, even things that come from the darkest parts of our hearts, can be brought to God. He listens!
