21-Day Plan for Busy Women: A Rich and Satisfying Life

DAY 1 OF 21

Being Uniquely You
Mary, the Mother of Jesus: Faith to Submit to God's Plan

"Juggling," "multitasking", "harried" are the words that frequently describe my days. Just as I settled down at the computer, thoughts focused on writing this note to you, my daughter needed me to quiz her on history and my husband needed help clearing snow from the driveway. Be right back —

Are your days like mine? Rushing to make appointments on time because I don't want to be "that" woman who doesn't have her act together. Excusing myself from those small "God prompts" because I'm hurrying through my day.

I'm longing to trade my "just-get-through-it life" for the "rich and satisfying life" Jesus promised. The Bible records these words of Jesus, "My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life." (John 10:10 NLT). The King James Version reads like this: "I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly."

Let's make a date for the next three weeks, same time each day. Grab a cup of coffee (or hot tea, if you're a non-coffee drinker like me), the scriptures and a journal as we together explore the lives of some women who discovered a "rich and satisfying" life. We'll throw in a few who missed the boat as well. There are lessons to be learned there, too.

Each day we'll have 4 simple questions to answer. We'll begin today with one of the most famous Biblical women of all, Mary, the Mother of Jesus.

1. What was God's role in Mary's life?
2. How did she respond? Did these actions lead her towards the "rich and satisfying" life Jesus promised?
3. How does this story apply to me today?
4. What is one thing I can do differently based on what I've learned?

Can we imagine together the explosive kingdom expansion that could occur if we as women understood our roles, surrendered our resources to God's ownership as faithful stewards and responded to God's love as generous givers? We would be released to live our life for His purposes and His glory. In other words, we would experience a "rich and satisfying life": spiritually invigorated, financially free and generously living.

I'm ready to find that life, aren't you?
