The Joy In FallingSýnishorn
Finding Joy
I want to take a second and express how grateful I am that The Lord gave me skateboarding. It has taught me how to fall, how to get back up, how to overcome, but most importantly it has taught me how to find joy in the process. In our lives there is a risk with every opportunity we chase after. If we want to pray bold prayers for changed lives we need to learn to accept that it probably will not be a “safe” journey. We’re going to struggle, we’re going to hurt, and we’re going to fall. Where we find our joy is in the hope that Jesus is constantly preparing us for our purpose here on Earth and for our eternal stay in His kingdom.
How often do you overlook the blessings you’ve been given? Or better yet, how often do you turn those blessings into a resource to discredit your own worth? More than likely you’ve read this devotional on a mobile device. We’re so blessed to have a phone that we can pick up at any time to call our families, pray with our friends, and encourage anyone from basically anywhere in the world. However, we still use our time to get on social media and compare our lives to other people. We want to pick out every flaw and discredit the worth of others and ourselves. We’re so quick to replace joy with a superficial comparison of likes, followers, or what outfit someone is wearing. Let us remember our identity is found in Jesus alone. He has blessed us with so much more than we deserve. He loves us with a love that surpasses our understanding.
Let’s rejoice on the mountain tops and find joy in the valleys. Let us focus on Jesus, stay prepared to battle, reevaluate, adapt, overcome, and find joy in the process. God has chosen you to live, love, and change the world in a way that only you can do. No matter the situation, The Lord is with you through every dark day. Trust in Him and let Him guide you to find the joy in falling.
Focus: Focus today on finding joy in the little things we overlook daily. If God has you in a place where you feel like you have fallen, do not become discouraged for Our God is getting ready to use you to conquer giants.

About this Plan
If you're reading this, chances are you are in a similar place I once was. You may not be an athlete with endorsements or sponsors. You're probably not waking up from an extensive ten hour and twenty minute knee surgery. However, there is a good chance someone or something has taken you away from a specific desire you have. You may be in a place where you feel The Lord has left you. You're feeling abandoned. You're feeling forgotten. You've fallen and you don't know how or if you can get back up. This devotional is meant to encourage, support, and help navigate you through the falls in life alongside our savior, Jesus. My hope is that you will obtain the tools to not only be prepared for the falls but to also receive the vision to see the joy in the them. Enjoy, -Dylan Harreld
