Jesus' Call To Hurting People—Disciple Makers Series #12Sýnishorn
Jesus' call to burdened and hurting people: "Come!"
Thoughts on the message
Jesus summarizes the whole of this chapter here.
People have chosen to not listen to Him—they mock His love for people who are hurting, they ignore His teaching and miracles, they reject Him as Messiah. They do this because they think they are smart, know more about God’s plans than Jesus does, or feel they just have no need to follow Him.
Jesus says this:
- Father, You have chosen to hide Your truth from “smart” people and reveal it to children—bless You.
- I [Jesus] have the privilege and authority to choose who gets to know the Father.
- If we come to Jesus, He will not just reveal the Father, He releases peace and rest to our hearts.
We are not as smart as we think.
We are not able to comprehend God without Jesus.
We are hurting, burdened and weary people—and we need help.
Jesus, the Messiah can meet our every need.
Time to pray
Father, today, I look at my life. Yes, I am tired. Yes, I need Your rest for my spirit. Yes….
Why is it so hard to just go to Jesus and ask for help? I do not know. I just know that Jesus gives me rest and peace. Right now that is what I need. Jesus, take my burden today and give me a task that is light enough for me to carry—You carry the rest of my day. It is Your promise and it is Your heart to do this. I pray this for my spouse, my children, and my friends as well. May each of us choose this load to carry—and to give You all the rest. In Jesus’ name I pray Amen.
