Jesus, I Want to Love You Part 7Sýnishorn
WHAT ABOUT THE UNKNOWN?
Read the scripture passages for today before answering the following questions.
What about the unknown?
How do we strike a balance between worry and arrogant over-confidence? We need to be careful we don’t go boldly forward in our own strength and wisdom.
What do you worry about in your tomorrows? In your weakest moments, what thoughts are going through your mind? What strategy does the enemy try to use to get you to worry about tomorrow or to go down the path of pride, making plans to fix or prevent situations with human wisdom or strength?
When we are tempted to worry or to go on ahead with our own schemes, the Holy Spirit lovingly reminds us that we are getting off track.
There are those mornings that you may be awakened with thoughts that take you into a downward spiral. Within moments your mind is whirling. As the morning progresses, you feel yourself walking around the house aimlessly, unable to get anything done. Worry and fear gnaw at you. Or what about those nights when you lay your head on the pillow and begin to worry? You can’t fall asleep for anything, and the dark room begins to get darker and darker and darker. Your worry is about to turn into full blown panic! When we find ourselves in these circumstances, what would a godly response to worry be?
Read Psalm 139. Note the key thoughts and bring them to the Lord in a prayerful response. Begin with praise, then confession and thanksgiving, and then end by bringing your requests before Him. The Lord will bless you abundantly as you invest by faith in the unseen, by spending time in His Word and in prayer. After praying, answer the following questions.
What does this psalm affirm?
What does the psalmist say about his anxiety in verse 23? How can we apply this to circumstances that are beyond our control?
Do you have weak faith? Is unbelief at the root of your worry? Is there arrogance concerning your own wisdom, ways, or abilities? Read the verses below (provided in the Scripture links). What do they teach you about pride or arrogance?
Psalm 101:5
1 Corinthians 8:1
1 Corinthians 13:4
2 Timothy 3:2
What do you see the Lord revealing in you? What do you hear from Him? Go to prayer and ask the Lord to help you identify any fearful or prideful way.
