God Hears Our Cries

In Exodus, we learn about God’s chosen people who were once slaves. These were the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, whose forefathers had moved to Egypt after a severe famine devastated the eastern world.

After years had passed and the Israelites had multiplied, Pharaoh chose to subject them to a life of slavery. As a result, the children of Israel were placed under harsh taskmasters who oppressed them and imposed forced labor on them.

After some time, the king of Egypt died, and the Israelites groaned in the midst of their captivity and cried out to God for help. When He heard their bitter weeping, the Lord remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and looked at the Israelites with concern. One chapter later, God visited Moses and revealed his plan of deliverance for his chosen people.

Today, God still hears our cries and sympathizes with our suffering. We serve a sovereign king who sees, knows, and hears everything. That means when we turn to Him and cry out for help, He will acknowledge our tears and give us the power we need to break free from whatever is holding us back.

Not only that, but the children of Israel had a covenant with God because of their ancestral father, Abraham. Today, we all have access to an intimate relationship with the Father because of the covenant he established with us over two thousand years ago through the blood of His son, Jesus Christ.
