5 Days of Comfort: Count Your Blessings and Stop StressingMinta
Comfort from Jesus
As you read passages from the Bible, let the words of Jesus sink into your heart. Even very short statements, such as the passage we will read today, can share so much about Jesus. He sees what we are going through and understands how we feel. His promise to give us comfort implies that he understands the difficulties the disciples would endure in this world. He knows they and we will need comfort. And he promises to give that comfort. Our comfort will be his return. He also promises to love us and show himself to us. Jesus will not leave us alone but will come back. He is with us now daily, supporting us and praying for us. And we know he will also return fully at the end of the age.
How loving of our Savior to provide this promise! He provided it to his disciples during the Upper Room discourse right before he was betrayed and killed. How they must have needed these words of promise during that time of confusion and tragedy before Jesus rose again. And how we need those words now. Remember that Jesus will bring you comfort; he will give you himself.
Prayer: Father, I long for Jesus’ return. Thank you for the hope that I have.
