Purpose Day 2: You Have Not Let God Down

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NKJV)

There are times when we think about life, its purpose, and our destiny.

We think about what has been accomplished, what hasn’t, and whether we can finish the course God has set for us. And yet, doing a life assessment can bring many emotions.

First, we can feel disappointed because we think we’re not where we need to be. Secondly, we can feel discouraged because of the inability to begin what we believe is our life’s goal. Then, on the other hand, there may be feelings of joy and empowerment for those who are nailing it and living on purpose.

No matter where we fall on the spectrum, know that each of our lives has a plan and purpose. Just as God proclaimed to Israel that He knew the plans He had for them, I tell you today that God knows His plans for you. (Jeremiah 29:11)

The Father says, “I don’t think the way you think. The way you work isn’t the way I work. For as the sky soars high above the earth, so the way I work surpasses the way you work, and the way I think is beyond the way you think.” (Isaiah 55:9, MSG)

So, I ask, according to whose standards are you behind, or not where you should be on life’s journey?

Just because goals and plans were unmet when we felt they should have been doesn’t mean our journey is a washout. Think of matters this way. As the saying goes, the quickest way to a point is a straight line. So, let’s just say we took the scenic route through the countryside. We’ll still reach our expected end if we trust God.

So, today, I encourage you to keep pressing toward the goal.

Daily Prayer

Father, Your Word says that if we lack wisdom, we should ask, and You will give liberally (James 1:5). So, I ask You, Father, for wisdom to manage my times and seasons so that I will align with all You have purposed for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Daily Affirmation

I am walking in my appointed times and seasons in God.
