God Warned Noah
God showed Noah an amazing secret: the thoughts of His heart and the plan He had formed. Though humans are thoroughly wicked, God had planned a merciful rescue operation that required great faith. The holiness of God is evident in His plan to punish the wicked, but also in His mercy in making a way to escape eternal death.
Noah responded in reverence to the Lord—a total belief that produced complete obedience. Despite being persecuted for going against the culture, Noah persevered for 100 years, building the ark for a rain event that no one had seen before. To those who believed, it was the covenant way of escaping death.
The ark Noah built was an Old Testament type of Jesus Christ. Though the wage of sin is death, God loves you and made a way of escape. He is holy and just, but Christ came to earth to die in our place. It takes faith to believe that the Son of God paid that price and then rose again from the dead. As Noah illustrated, real faith acts, and if we believe Jesus is Lord, then we too will trust, obey, and persevere to follow Jesus no matter how it cuts across culture.
Question: How is your friendship with Christ right now? What aspects of your relationship with God do you want to see mature and grow?
Pray: Father, thank you for your rescue plan. I believe that Jesus is your Son who brought the ark of salvation to me and took me from death to life. In gratitude, I give you my life to obey, follow, and represent you to the world.
