21-Day Devotional for Christian Writers

Is something holding you back from experiencing God’s full and complete grace? Had you forgotten what Jesus did at the cross? Today’s verse clearly states that Jesus took our sins upon himself, and by extension, anything that causes us to feel shameful. There is no sin too hideous that God cannot forgive through Christ Jesus. If God shamed the principalities and powers by His victory on the cross of Christ, then there is no need for you to hang your head low. Perhaps you could try journaling. It’s a great way of detailing your thoughts. I have also been known to send God the odd text message when life gets too much. And when I say text message, I type in the message, then delete it. God is all-seeing and all-knowing. He’s seen the text. And whatever I needed to say that was weighing me down has now been passed on to him. It may also be that part of taking the shame away means writing about whatever experience causes you to feel shame, so that you can deal with it and be done with it. You do not necessarily have to publish it, because the healing is in the writing process itself. Some of my mentees have taken this approach and found it beneficial, if only in terms of the release they’ve felt from the things that held them captive, either physically, emotionally, or spiritually.
