Perspective Through DisappointmentMinta
How do you talk about your life?
"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." (Romans 12:12, NIV)
Are you going through a very challenging time right now? When you talked about your circumstances today, was frustration or confidence at the root of your words?
Just now, before I wrote you this email, I received such disappointing news that it briefly pulled the plug on my joy as well. I was told that one of my songs that was supposed to be on German TV in a few days had suddenly and unexpectedly been taken off the air. This news came after the song had already been recorded and we'd worked on it for days, even a whole night.
The disappointment and the pain are very real because this song would've fit so well with the message I would share on TV. I believe the song would have gone straight to the hearts of the viewers.
In moments like these, I've learned something I'd like to share with you: how you talk about your difficult situation in your moment of hurt changes everything!
I had to make a choice about how I would react, how I would talk about the experience. I could say, "Great! The whole show is ruined because we can't use that song." Or I could say, "Ok, this hurts, and it's hugely disappointing…but it won't change the fact that God is still going to powerfully reach people's hearts! Praise God that the show is still on TV!"
It's not about how your story goes—it's about how you speak about it! When you change your attitude, your speech will follow, and you'll begin to speak life into an opportunity that the devil had wanted to take away from you!
It's so easy for God to change a situation that didn't go "as planned" into one that's even better than you could've imagined! God is still God. And should your life go differently than you'd planned, God can make it far better than you'd imagined!
Choose to change your attitude and your speech, even today, and your life will change for the better! :-)
You are a miracle!
