No Weapon that is Fashioned Against You Shall Succeed

Saul had a complex of inferiority and pride. In jealousy, he persecuted David because he couldn't stand that David had become more popular than he was. Saul looked for any excuse to wipe David off the planet. Jonathan, Saul's son, loved David and protected him by defending and speaking highly of him, reminding Saul how David had honored and supported his reign.

Saul struggled between accepting David and wanting to kill him. He tried to kill David many times, but his plans got frustrated every time.

It is interesting to note that when Saul sent men to kill David, the Spirit of God fell on them, and they started prophesying. No matter what the enemy plans against us, nothing can stop God's plan. Even the enemy has to agree with what God has said, because God's word is final!

Isaiah put it this way in chapter 54. No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.

Question: Can you trust that even when you feel that people and circumstances are against you, you can rely on what God has promised, even though it may not be a reality yet?

Prayer: Jesus, help me to remember that the enemy belongs under Your feet, and he is defeated. Therefore since I am in Your body, he is under my feet also. Help me endure difficulty knowing that You promised to be faithful and that no weapon formed against me will prevail! Teach me to love my enemies and pray for those who persecute me. Thank you for being my Savior and Defender! Amen.
