Don't Choose Revenge

After losing his family and fleeing for his life, David finds Saul in a vulnerable situation. David must choose to seek revenge or to show mercy. After enduring such abuse, who wouldn't want to get even? However, David understood that justice belonged in God's hands. David recognized that God had anointed Saul King despite his failures, and until God removed the kingship from Saul, he was still David's King.

Sometimes we find ourselves suffering under insecure leaders. Perhaps it is a boss, a spiritual leader, or an elder in your family. When we chose to leave justice to God and refrain from revenge, we make room for God to move in the situation. By doing this, we are choosing to walk in God's mercy for both ourselves and others. David's response to hardship revealed that he had the skills and character worthy of the kingship. In time God made way for David to become the next King without taking revenge to achieve it.

Daily Challenge: Have you ever found yourself suffering under an insecure leader? Choose to forgive those who have harmed you and ask God to bring justice to your situation.
