Creation

Quick Start

Since God is love (1 John 4:7–8), everything He does is born from His great love for us. In what way was creation an act of love for those whom God would place on the earth?

Quest

Have you ever stared at a beautiful flower and heard God whisper, “I love you”? Have you ever gazed at majestic mountains, or watched a beautiful sunset, and sensed that God put these things here for you to enjoy? He did. It is such a shame when people do not take time to enjoy the wonderful, beautiful, exciting, and amazing things God has placed all around us. God didn’t have to make rainbows colorful, or flowers smell nice, but He did. The Bible tells us (Rom. 1:20) that we can learn a lot about God from what He created, and that what God made clearly shows us how much He loves us. Planting nice flower gardens, taking care of our property, picking up trash while we are on nature walks, and not wasting the natural resources we have all show respect for God’s creation. Taking time to “take in” what God made lets Him know you appreciate all His has done.

Quiet Family Prayer

Look out the window or sit outside. Point out any birds, trees, flowers, etc., that you see. Take time to thank God for what He created around you and for what it says about His love for you.

Quiet Times

Younger Kids: Read the story of Creation in your own Bible. In your prayers tonight thank God for all the wonderful things that He’s made.

Older Kids: Read Psalm 19. Notice that the psalmist begins with how God’s creation speaks to us, testifying to His existence, His love, and His faithfulness; His creation is consistent, not random. If His creation speaks to us so clearly, how much more does His Word? What is our response? In your prayers tonight, thank God for communicating His character and His will to you and ask Him to help you respond well. Pray the last verse of Psalm 19 and make it your prayer.
