How to Be a Redemptive Change Agent

JOU 3 SOU 6

Was Jesus a Redemptive Change Agent?

And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people (Matthew 4:23 ESV).

A redemptive change agent acts on the basis of a Christian worldview to solve problems in his/her home society. One is motivated by love for God and love for their near and far neighbors, amidst a keen awareness that sin has taken a personal and systemic toll on them. The goal is to bring nearer the presence of God’s Kingdom so that men and women flourish, and they are in awe of God.

Jesus’ many healings were tangible and deeply-appreciated responses to chronic suffering, and by doing so Jesus made the message of the Kingdom of God appealing. Jesus’ death is the basis of our reconciliation with God. Solving problems as redemptive change agents in our communities makes people long to know Him and to similarly solve problems in their communities as well.

Do you want to be like Jesus? Since you are being transformed into His likeness (II Corinthians 3:18), are you willing to examine and explore the problems and challenges in your community, and then form a redemptive project that helps to solve those problems while giving people a taste of the Kingdom?
