Weird Ideas: Jesus ChristEgzanp

Common sense says people are people. They’re all the same, and no one is more or less special than anyone else - except for various abilities. So anyone can do what they set their heart on if they invest enough time and energy with enough opportunities and resources.

Christians have a different idea. They believe Jesus is decidedly different. Jesus became like us in every way, but is special. And he alone can do what we are never capable of. He alone has authority, righteousness, and power. He is God’s anointed and true humanity. He is the answer to humanity’s needs. And so he is the object of our faith. The one worth trusting in. Many people seek to save themselves. With enough time and effort they believe they can be good people and go to heaven. The world says “Believe in yourself.” God says, “Believe in Jesus.”
