Boasting in the CrossEgzanp
What happens when we boast about ourselves?
'May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which[a] the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world'. Galatians 6:14
1. We forget our creator
We often forget our Creator. We overlook the fact that God meticulously crafted us, nurturing and providing for us throughout our journey. He bestowed upon us wisdom and knowledge, and generously endowed us with gifts and talents, all of which are divine blessings. It's essential to recognize that everything we possess or delight in ultimately belongs to the Lord. Yet, all too often, we arrogantly claim credit for our achievements, distancing ourselves from the truth that we are mere recipients of His grace.
Consider the contrast: the God of the universe and our finite existence. In this relationship, we must humbly acknowledge our Creator's immense role in our lives and offer our gratitude for His boundless blessings.
2. We fake our spirituality
Some among us fake our spirituality; we outwardly portray devotion unto God while concealing our true intentions. We not only refuse to obey God's commands but have also lost trust in His divine guidance. Instead, we rely on empty ceremonies, rituals, and ordinances, using these as mere tokens to showcase their supposed allegiance to the cross of Christ. However, our actions betray our insincerity, revealing that we do not genuinely boast in the cross.
Matthew 15:8 These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
Prayer:
Dear God,
Please help me sincerely follow you. Forgive me for the days when I pretended to be spiritual. Guide me to worship you in truth and in spirit. Amen.
